Thank you for choosing to support men’s lacrosse during the UMW Athletics #CallingAllEagles Challenge!
Eagles Lacrosse focuses on three objectives for the young men in our program: experience, development, and education. We want our student-athletes to have a memorable and outstanding experience and we will do everything possible to help our players develop on and off the field. Additionally, we want to teach through sport, providing lessons that will serve our players in every aspect of life. College lacrosse provides countless opportunities for learning and growth through the experiences a student-athlete has every day with teammates, opponents, and in competition.
Our team is building a nationally competitive program and returns 2 seniors, 8 juniors, and 31 freshmen and sophomores – many of whom played significant roles as underclassmen – from the 2020 season. We have a tremendous level of interest to join our program for the upcoming 2021 season. There are many requests for try-outs and 60 total student-athletes coming out for the team.
Our biggest fundraising needs are for additional equipment, apparel, and training supplies. Wanting to provide an elite experience for the players requires our program to stay on the cutting edge with protective and training equipment on the field, as well as using film and playbook apps in the classroom. All of this comes with an annual expense but is invaluable to providing an outstanding lacrosse experience. In addition, we try to provide our student-athletes with great meals. In past years, we have kicked off the season with a food truck, provided competition level bar-b-que during spring break, and hosted class family-style meals. These memorable events certainly go well beyond what a department’s budget can provide.
Thank you so much for your support of Eagles Lacrosse. Go Eagles!
