Thank you for choosing to support baseball during the UMW Athletics #CallingAllEagles Challenge!

Mary Washington baseball student-athletes strive for excellence on and off the field. We do everything possible to help our players prosper in the classroom and on the diamond. We want them to have a memorable and outstanding experience while they are here. College baseball provides countless opportunities for them to learn and grow through their experiences every day with teammates, opponents, and competition. Since its inception in 1988, our program has played in 11 NCAA tournaments, won 10 conference championships, and been nationally ranked in 17 seasons. Our roster typically has 35-40 players.

Our biggest need for fundraising is for player development. To catch up to the best programs in the nation we need the technological tools and data to help our hitters and pitchers be their best. A Rapsodo pitching unit ($5000) will help our pitchers in every aspect. The unit measures velocity, location, spin rate, horizontal and vertical break. For our hitters, we would like to purchase the Blast Motion ($5000) swing analyzer. Each player would have a sensor on their bat to measure bat speed, ball exit velocity, swing path, time to contact, and many more useful metrics.

In addition, we try to provide our student-athletes with all of the gear and accessories they need for success, which certainly goes well beyond what a department’s budget can provide.
