Cross Country and Track and Field
Thank you for choosing to support UMW XC/T&F during the UMW Athletics #CallingAllEagles Challenge!
UMW men’s and women’s cross country and track & field program has built an impressive success story at the conference, regional, and national levels. Both Men’s and Women’s teams claimed the Outdoor Track & Field Capital Athletic Conference championship in 2019, which was the first time both teams concurrently won in nearly 20 years. This past Fall 2019 season, our cross country teams performed well at the regional level; although unranked most of the year, the men finished sixth among 36 schools, while the women placed 11th among 33 teams. At the national level, our team members have an impressive 17 All-American selections since 2000. In the past 5 years, the team has more than doubled in size from less than 50 student-athletes to over 100.
Our program goal is to educate, motivate, and inspire each of our team members to maximize her/his potential in the classroom, at practice or in competition. These will all lead to a well-rounded student-athlete experience. Our main fundraising goals for the year include:
- Providing new uniforms and gear for all team members
- Support one overnight trip each season to enhance the student-athlete competitive experience (Rowan, Virginia Beach, Duke)
- Assist in the purchase of new equipment (pole vault poles, starting blocks, hurdles, throwing implements) to help our team members practice and compete with confidence so they can be successful
Thank you so much for your support of UMW XC/T&F!
