Thank you for choosing to support men’s lacrosse during the UMW Athletics #CallingAllEagles Challenge!
Eagles Lacrosse focuses on three objectives for the young men in our program: experience, development, and education. We want our student-athletes to have a memorable and outstanding experience and we will do everything possible to help our players develop on and off the field. Additionally, we want to teach through sport, providing lessons that will serve our players in every aspect of life. College lacrosse provides countless opportunities for learning and growth through the experiences a student-athlete has every day with teammates, opponents, and in competition.
Our team returns 11 seniors, 10 juniors, and 9 sophomores from the 2021 season. These young men dedicated a tremendous amount of time and energy and persevered through an unrelenting amount of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic to represent the university in the 2021 season. They will be joined by 10 very talented freshmen as we head into the 2021-22 school year. Our schedule features teams from 5 different states and the District of Columbia, with 9 homes games – after just hosting 3 last season.
Our biggest fundraising needs are for additional equipment, apparel, and training supplies. Wanting to provide an elite experience for the players requires our program to stay on the cutting edge with protective and training equipment on the field, as well as using film and playbook apps in the classroom. All of this comes with an annual expense, but is invaluable to providing an outstanding lacrosse experience. In addition, we try to provide our student-athletes with great meals. In past years, we have kicked off the season with a food truck, provided competition level bar-b-que during spring break, and hosted class family-style meals. These memorable events certainly go well beyond what a department’s budget can provide.
Thank you so much for your support of Eagles Lacrosse. Go Eagles!
