Cosplay Club
Description
The UMW Cosplay Club is an ICA-recognized university organization at the University of Mary Washington. Founded in October 2023, the club is one of the fastest growing communities of cosplayers in the DMV region. More than 100 UMW students participate in the club, exploring their interests in cosplay, costume craftmanship, alternative and J-fashion, fur-suiting, anime/comic conventions, fandom spaces, and more.
Our goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for those interested in the hobby of cosplay! We also cater to those interested in Lolita and Harajuku fashion, convention-going, fandom-centric spaces (i.e. anime, video games, Dungeons and Dragons, etc.) wig styling, and garment construction. We strive to foster a positive space for all to socialize and share their passions, craftsmanship, advice, and support! Whether you’re an experienced cosplayer or someone who’s always wanted to start dressing up, the UMW Cosplay Club is the space for you!
With your support, we can fund the purchase of custom light sticks for our spring concert event, Sora Idol Festival. Donations will also be used to purchase more sewing machines and craft supplies for our members to rent out.
