Show us what matters most to you! Below are just a few of the hundreds of areas on campus that you can support. Whether you give back to your academic department, an athletics team, or another program on campus, your investment will make a difference on the lives of current and future students.

Why does your participation matter? Because every single gift adds up to make a huge impact. That’s the power of the annual fund – thousands of Eagles giving what they can to support the scholarships, programs, and experiences that tuition alone can’t cover. Just like alumni gave for you, you can now pay it forward for today’s students.

Throughout the year, we'll share what the top designations are. Chosen by you! When you make a gift of any size to the Fund for Mary Washington or any area on campus by June 30, 2027, you can bring your favorite area on campus to the top. Don't see the fund you're looking for? Select Other on the donation form, and write it in. We'll make sure your gift goes directly to the area you want it to go.

Whether you give $5 or $500, your gift will positively impact our students, faculty, and programs. Which area will rise to the top? Make your gift this fiscal year (July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027) and let’s find out!

Fund for Mary Washington
Your gift will help provide flexibility to address urgent and evolving needs, allowing us to fulfill our educational mission to students.
Your gift will help provide flexibility to address urgent and evolving needs, allowing us to fulfill our educational mission to students. Your gift, no matter the size, strengthens Mary Washington, and a strong Mary Washington benefits us all. Whether you give $5, $50, or $500, every gift is critical to the success of the University and ultimately our students. While a gift to any area on campus benefits students and the University, this year we are actively advocating for contributions to the Fund for Mary Washington. As the University's unrestricted fund, your gift to the Fund for Mary Washington allows University leadership to have the resources necessary to ensure adequate funding for areas across campus, ensuring we have the best faculty to continue the level of excellence in our classrooms our alumni expect, and provides the resources necessary for our students to succeed. Gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington do something special—because the Fund doesn’t just support one program; it touches nearly every corner of this campus. Recent gifts to the Fund has fueled bold campus initiatives that expand career-readiness opportunities, enhance preservation efforts, fund original research, and sharpen the leadership skills that prepare students for life after Mary Washington. Alumni of the last decade have a special opportunity to join our President's Circle. Usually a gift of $2,500, members of the classes of 2014-2023 can make a gift of $500 or more to the Fund for Mary Washington and join our President's Circle. President’s Circle members are recognized with their name on a donor wall outside of the President’s Office in GW and are invited to special events throughout the year. You can break out your gift into monthly payments and be a President's Circle member as long as the full $500 is fulfilled by the end of our fiscal year, June 30th.
Scholarship and Student Assistance
None
Cedric Rucker '81 S.O.S. Fund Funds from this endowment in “Support of our Students” will be used to support students with unexpected and life-altering emergencies. This assistance could come in the form of a plane ticket for a student who needs to get back to their family in case of an emergency, textbooks for a semester, or other personal need. General Scholarship Fund Nearly half of all undergraduates qualify for need-based aid. Many of these students would not be able to afford a college education without the support of the University's generous donors. Your gift to the General Scholarship Fund will help at-risk students stay in school, take on less debt, and graduate on time. If you would prefer to designate your gift to a specific scholarship, please choose "Other" on the donation form and note the name of the scholarship in the text box provided. The General Scholarship Fund is used to augment other sources of financial aid. It gives us the flexibility to help students who are most vulnerable, those facing a financial crisis, or who need extra support. Gwen Hale Resource Center Food and other basic needs insecurity has significant impact on our lives. It increases stress and difficulty concentrating and decreases the likelihood of completing courses and degrees. The Gwen Hale Resource Center (GHRC) intends to ease this burden. According to campuswide surveys, more than 20% of students UMW students experience some level of food insecurity. Our goal is to provide food, clothing, school supplies, toiletries, and other items at no cost to any member of the UMW community. Talley Center for Counseling Services University life is exciting but can also be very challenging. Talley Center staff of licensed mental health professionals, as well as resident therapists and graduate/doctoral interns, help students meet the demands of college effectively and help support their personal, social, and intellectual growth and development. Your gift to the Talley Center for Counseling Services will help support student development, especially in wellness, leadership, and citizenship through a variety of counseling services including individual, group, and couples counseling as well as crisis intervention, consultation, community referrals, and training and educational outreach programs to the entire UMW community.
