Botany Club impacts our community by preserving biodiversity through our seed bank, growing native as well as food-producing plants, invasive species removal, etc. We focus on a oneness with nature where we are part of our surroundings rather than decimating them. We also discuss the health impacts of nature, including herbalism.
Money donated to our organization will be used to fund club events, buy seeds and plants, tools, to bring in guest speakers, etc.
We hold many events throughout the year, including pawpaw hunts, black walnut harvests, pecan collections, a plant “book” club (we purchase a type of seed and then each member grows it at their residence), invasive species removal, assist with the community & pollinator garden(s) on campus, a homemade guacamole meeting (we save the pits to grow), etc. (Note: we also teach our members how to grow all of the seeds that we harvest and grow some to be planted on campus).
