Provide Flexibility To Address Urgent & Evolving Needs

Support the Fund for Mary Washington

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant financial impact on the University as the community retreated to homes and safe spaces. Since mid-March, unbudgeted, unmet needs for students, faculty, and staff have escalated, even as revenue to operate dissipated.

The financial impact of these changes will likely be evident for UMW well into the next academic year. Support like yours helps minimize the effect on our programs and services.

We appreciate your consideration of support with a special gift to the Fund for Mary Washington. Your gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington will go to work immediately to help wherever needed most.

The Fund continues to make possible UMW’s alignment with presidential priorities in a time of uncertainty; student support for urgent needs; programming and opportunities to keep alumni and students connected in a new digital environment; and the ongoing ability to recruit and retain of our exceptionally talented faculty.

UMW receives less than 27% of its operating budget from the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Fund for Mary Washington helps bridge the gap between its support from state and tuition dollars - and the actual cost of providing an outstanding liberal arts education to our students.

Although our community is currently dispersed, we stand strong together as #OneUMW. Thank you for your continued encouragement and support of our students.
